WISCONSIN RAPIDS SOFTBALL RUNS OVER WAUSAU WEST

WAUSAU - The Wisconsin Rapids softball team started its game at Wausau West with a 10-run first inning and didn't look back, taking a road conference win with a final score of 19-1.


In the game, Hayley Wagner hammered in 11 RBI while going a perfect 4-of-4 from the plate. The all-time Wagner performance included two home runs in the first inning and another in the fourth inning, two of the three were grand slams. Kendall Ziegan and Sawyer Holberg also homered in the game, Ziegan a solo shot in the second inning, Holberg's a two-run blast in the fourth..


Rhiannon Carroll picked up the win in the four inning run-shortened game, striking out three and giving up one run.


Next up for Wisconsin Rapids (7-1, 1-1) is a home doubleheader against Eau Claire North on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
