SCHOFIELD – The Wisconsin Rapids Rangers American Legion baseball team scored six runs in its final two at-bats to hold off D.C. Everest 8-6 on Monday at Simon Field.


Trailing 4-2 going into the top of the sixth, the Rangers rallied to pull ahead with the help of numerous Everest miscues.


With two outs, Braden Lewis singled and Jacob Wipfli was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Tyler Beyer, who walked to the leadoff the inning, scored on a passed ball and an error allowed to more runs score. Three consecutive Rapids batters walked to force in another run to give the Rangers a 6-4 lead.


Wipfli had an RBI single and an error allowed another run to score to put Wisconsin Rapids on top 8-4 in the seventh.


D.C. Everest scored twice in the bottom of the inning before a groundout ended the game with two runners on.


Wisconsin Rapids improves to 4-1 and returns to action Wednesday at Plover. The game will begin at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park and will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
