WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids scored on the first offensive play of the game and let its defense do the rest as it defeated Marshfield 26-7 in a Valley Football Association matchup Friday at South Wood County Stadium.

Wisconsin Rapids racked up 392 yards rushing and held Marshfield to just 152 total yards in the victory.

Leo Brostowitz ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and Caden Sengbusch added 112 yards rushing, including a 72-yard touchdown run on the Raiders’ opening offensive play.

Marshfield reached the red zone twice in the first quarter, only to be turned away each time after failing on fourth down.

Wisconsin Rapids pushed the lead to 12-0 by halftime after blocking a punt. Peter Rucker recovered at the 1-yard line and Brostowitz ran in on the next play.

Brostowitz added a 25-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Teal Lucas had a 3-yard TD in the fourth before Marshfield scored late on a 1-yard touchdown run by Trevor Foemmel.

The regular season ends next Friday, Oct. 15, and the stakes are clear for both teams. Wisconsin Rapids (4-3, 4-1 VFA) will play at Appleton West and can earn a share of the conference title with a win. Marshfield (3-3, 2-3 VFA) will host Stevens Point, a game that will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com, and the Tigers must win to earn a WIAA playoff berth. Both games start at 7 p.m.
