WISCONSIN CANCELS LEGION BASEBALL SEASON
SPORTSDESK - There will be no American Legion baseball season in Wisconsin for the 2020 season.
Coming off the heels of a Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Association (WALBA) Board of Directors vote on May 6th, which recommended a cancellation. The Department Executive Committee approved the WALBA board decision to cancel the season. Wisconsin now joins 23 other states in cancelling their 2020 seasons.
"Everyone involved in our program hoped to have American Legion Baseball in 2020, bus this was a necessary decision," Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Commissioner Roger Mathison said. "We fully expect to have our program return in 2021 and be played at a high level".
A total of 217 teams participated in Wisconsin's American Legion Baseball program in 2019. The 2019 season participation in Wisconsin was the fourth-largest program in the country. The 2019 season also saw the Wisconsin Rapids Post 9 Rangers make the state tournament.
Registration and insurance refunds will be initiated by state headquarters on behalf of all paid teams for 2020. Program Coordinator, Jen Swenson, can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
