GREENWOOD – Wausau Newman Catholic scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull past Greenwood 21-12 in a Central Wisconsin Conference East Division 8-man football game Friday night at Greenwood High School.


Greenwood trailed 7-6 at halftime after Christian Thomas hit Fletcher Bredlau for a 13-yard touchdown pass with 4:51 to go in the second quarter.


The Indians (2-2) took the lead in the third quarter on a 10-yard TD pass from Thomas to Xander HInker before Newman Catholic (5-0), the No. 2-ranked team in last week’s Wissports.net State 8-man Coaches Poll, scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull away.


Hinker finished with 153 yards rushing on 33 carries and had 54 yards receiving on four catches to lead the Greenwood offense.


Thomas finished 8-for-11 passing for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and also had an interception on defense.


In addition to the touchdown catch, Bredlau had 14 tackles on defense.
