MOSINEE – Mosinee scored in the opening seconds and never let up on its way to a 5-1 win over Clintonville in a nonconference boys soccer game Thursday at Edgewood Field.
Toren Holtz scored off a Caden Schmirler assist just 14 seconds into the game to give the Indians a quick lead.
The game evened out from there for most of the remainder of the first half until Mosinee earned a free kick off a Clintonville penalty. Holtz scored on the direct kick, giving Mosinee a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Garrett Donohue was the catalyst on the defensive end, Mosinee coach Joseph Carlson said, with aggressive challenges on 50/50 balls and solid passing.
Cole Holtz took one of Donohue’s steals and dished a pass to a cutting Toren Holtz for another Mosinee goal five minutes into the second half.
Clintonville’s Victor Luciano scored to cut into the deficit, before Mosinee put the game away.
Toren Holtz scored again with 12 minutes left, and Cole Holtz added a goal in the final minutes, off an assist from Donohue to provide the 5-1 final.
Mosinee keeper Keaton Wieloch finished with four saves.
Mosinee is now 2-0 on the season and hosts a double dual on Saturday, playing Shawano and Xavier.
