Zaleski Sports

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team kicked off its 2019-20 campaign with a dominating 78-32 win over Prentice in a Marawood Conference North-South crossover game Friday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford had its season start a bit later than scheduled after a run by the school’s football team to the state championship game, and came out more than ready to get the season started.

The Tigers rolled out to a 48-15 lead by halftime to put away the game early.

Ben Barten made 8 of 12 shots and scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Chandler Schmidt added 17 points, and Teddy Redman added 15 points to Stratford.

The Tigers shot an even 50 percent from the floor (29 of 58), made nine 3-pointers, and were a near perfect 11 of 12 at the free throw line.

Stratford’s next game is Friday, Dec. 13, at Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood South contest.
