STEVENS POINT, MARSHFIELD, WISCONSIN RAPIDS FINISH IN TOP 10 AT TOMAH GIRLS GOLF TUNE-UP

TOMAH – Stevens Point finished fifth, Marshfield eighth and Wisconsin Rapids ninth at the Tomah Girls Golf Tune-up on Monday at Hiawatha Golf Course.
Marshfield showed drastic improvement in its second meet of the season with a score of 414, 22 shots better than in the team’s season debut last Friday.
Brielle Lenz led the way for the Tigers with a 90, tying for 12th place overall among the 84 competitors. Lili Anaya had a 102, Ellie Mechler shot a 106, Sophie Lee fired a 116, and McKenzie Holm had a 121 to round out the scoring for Marshfield.
Tomah and Prescott tied for the team title with scores of 330, with Reedsburg a distant third with a 357. Wausau East/West was fourth with a 372, Stevens Point took fifth with a 375, and Wisconsin Rapids was ninth, finishing two shots behind Marshfield with a 416. Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids were playing its opening rounds of the 2021 season.
Ava Salay of Prescott had a 72 to win medalist honors, two shots ahead of Stevens Point’s Riley Pechinski.
Ava Fredericksen tied Lenz for 12th with a 90, Bella Nimm had a 101, and Clare Viau shot a 110 for Stevens Point.
Faith Cour led Wisconsin Rapids with a 100, finishing in 30th place. Logan Vollert had a 102, Kait Hafermann fired a 105, Claire Ninneman had a 109, and Grace Mitchell rounded out the Raiders’ scores with a 124.
Stevens Point will continue a busy opening week with a meet at Eau Claire on Tuesday and Onalaska on Friday. Point and Marshfield will both compete at the two-day Wisconsin Rapids Invitational at Ridges Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.
