STEVENS POINT BOYS SWIMMING DEFEATS WISCONSIN RAPIDS, CLINCHES WVC REGULAR-SEASON TITLE

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Stevens Point boys swim team clinched the Wisconsin Valley Conference regular-season title with a 134-31 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Lincoln High School.
Stevens Point (7-0 WVC) swept all 11 events with Will Gargulak and Konnor Pilger each winning a pair of individual events.
Gargulak won the 100-yard butterfly in 56.51 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.12, and Pilger won the 200 individual medley in 2:12.25 and the 100 freestyle in 50.60 seconds.
Sam Gargulak won the 200 freestyle (2:06.90), Kyle Franz won the 50 freestyle (23.76), Landon Bicknase took first in the 500 freestyle (5:42.53) and Nevyn Klessig won the 100 breaststroke (1:16.90) as well for SPASH.
Logan Maciejewski finished second in the 500 freestyle in 6:00.47 for Wisconsin Rapids’ top individual finish. The Raiders are now 3-4 in WVC duals.
Both teams finish their Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Jan. 27. Wisconsin Rapids will be at home against D.C. Everest and Stevens Point will travel to Wausau East.
