SPORTSDESK - In a regular meeting of the Stevens Point Board of Parks held on June 3rd at 6:30, its members voted unanimously to recommend the opening of Bukolt Park baseball diamond. The vote to open included a maximum of 50 people in the facility during any event. It also included a stipulation that only residents of Portage, Marathon, and Wood counties are allowed to attend an event. A final decision will be made at the next Stevens Point Common Council meeting that is scheduled to be held on June 15th.
Portage county baseball coaches are attempting to start an independent league this summer in place of the cancelled American Legion baseball season. League representatives submitted a "Return to Play" plan to the Portage County Heath Department that was approved by the department.
The public is encouraged to positively contact member of the council and encourage them to vote to open the park. Council contact information is here: https://stevenspoint.com/81/Alderpersons-City-Council
