SPASH BOYS BASKETBALL TOPS WISCONSIN RAPIDS FOR THIRD-STRAIGHT WIN

STEVENS POINT – James Jacobs scored 15 points to lead the Stevens Point boys basketball team to a 50-40 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday afternoon at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
The Panthers won their third-straight game and are now 4-4 overall and 3-0 in the WVC as they move into a tie with Marshfield for the conference lead.
Nate Streveler added 12 points in the win for SPASH.
Cade Jungwirth led Wisconsin Rapids (1-6, 0-2 WVC) with 13 points.
Both teams will compete at the Sentry Classic at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point next week.
Stevens Point will play Eau Claire North on Dec. 29 and Stoughton on Dec. 30, both at 7 p.m.
Wisconsin Rapids will take on Stoughton on Dec. 29 at noon and Eau Claire North on Dec. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
