STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point baseball maintained its lead in the Wisconsin Valley Conference standings with a 6-2 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday at Bukolt Park.


The Panthers are now 14-5 overall and 7-1 in the WVC as they open up a 1 ½ game lead over Wisconsin Rapids (12-8, 6-3 WVC) in the standings.


Kale Roth and Noah Marschke each had two hits in the win for Stevens Point.


Kaden Thauer picked up the win, allowing two runs and three hits in six innings with five strikeouts to improve to 6-0 this season.


Wisconsin Rapids statistics were not reported.


The two teams will meet again at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
