SPORTSDESK - The Plover Black Sox have now won five consecutive Wisconsin Valley games and move their conference record to 10-1 after a convincing 11-1 win over Antigo on Monday night. Just a week ago Antigo was tied for first, along with Plover and Wisconsin Rapids. An Antigo loss against DC Everest and Monday's loss now see the Typhoons drop to third place. Plover now with eyes for a Valley championship and a rematch win against Wisconsin Rapids (9-1) on July 10th would set them up for that accomplishment.
It was a quick 3-1 start for the Sox after one complete on Monday night. Logan Schulfer had an RBI double that was followed by a Cam Stampfl RBI hit that scored Schulfer. Then in the fourth inning the Sox blew open the game with seven runs. Another Schulfer two RBI double highlighted the big inning. The game ended an inning early via the 10-run rule after a Mason King RBI single in the 6th to finish the win, 11-1.
Schulfer also pitched a complete six innings, striking out eight Typhoons and giving up just one run on three hits.
Up next for Plover is a road game today at fourth place Marshfield (5-5). You can watch the game live at zaleskisports.com/live-sports
