PLOVER LEGION BASEBALL ROUGHS UP ANTIGO

PLOVER – The Plover Legion baseball team used an eight-run third inning to blow past Antigo 13-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League contest Wednesday at Memorial Park.


Plover led 4-3 after two innings before the explosion in the third that allowed the Black Sox to pull away.


Jackson Fox had an RBI single, two batters walked with the bases loaded, Jon Nafe had another RBI single, and Jake Sankey knocked in a run on a groundout to push Plover’s lead to 12-3.


The Black Sox finished the game off via the 10-run rule in the fifth on an RBI single by Brycen Cashin.


Tommy Drohner went 3-for-3 and scored three times, Fox had two hits and three RBI, and Carl Biechler and Kaleb Meyer each had two hits as well for Plover (9-4, 4-1 WVLL).


Kaden Thauer picked up the win, striking out five in four innings.


Plover will play at the Sheboygan Tournament from Thursday through Sunday. The Black Sox play Sheboygan at 6 p.m. Thursday at Wildwood Park.
