NEILLSVILLE – Pittsville won finished 1-4 at the Neillsville Volleyball Invitational on Saturday at Neillsville High School.

Pittsville beat Greenwood 25-16, 15-9, and lost its other four matches, including two in three sets.

The Panthers lost to Neillsville 2-0 (25-20, 25-18), Alma-Pepin 2-1 (25-18, 15-25, 17-15), Gilmanton 2-0 (25-21, 25-19), and Independence 2-1 (28-26, 20-25, 15-13).

“It was a roller-coaster day,” Pittsville coach Buff Heller said. “We played really well at times and then couldn’t keep the ball on the court. If we find some consistency, we will be tough to play against.”

Julia Redmond had 22 kills, 29 digs and four aces, Helen Durrant had 54 assists, Joci Buchli had 35 digs, and Madisyn Schooley had five aces for the Panthers.

Pittsville hosts Rib Lake for a nonconference match on Thursday.
