PEWAUKEE ADVANCES TO DIVISION 2 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AFTER SOLID WIN OVER ASHWAUBENON

The Pewaukee Pirates will look to become back-to-back state champions as they advanced to the division 2 championship game after knocking off the Ashwaubenon Jaguars 60-49 on Friday afternoon.

The Pirates were led by Milan Momcilovic who finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Josh Terrian pitched in 13 points and six rebounds to go along with teammate Nick Janowski who contributed 11 points.

Ashwaubenon made a layup to end the first half to cut the deficit to just two, 21-19, heading into the locker room.

In the second half the Jaguars tried their best to get back into the game, but as soon as the Jags had momentum the Pirates snatched right back up. Pewaukee outscored Ashwaubenon 39-30 in the second half.

The Jaguars were led by Marcus Tomashek who poured in 16 points and grabbed four rebounds. The only other double figure scorer for Ashwaubenon was Matt Imig who finished with 15 points and four assists.

Pewaukee will look for their second straight boys basketball state championship when they take the floor on Saturday evening against either La Crosse Central or Westosha Central at approximately 6:35pm.
