PACELLI DOUBLES TEAM FINISHES FOURTH AT WIAA STATE GIRLS TENNIS TOURNAMENT

MADISON – Pacelli’s doubles team of Ella Schroeder and Marissa Stolt finished fourth in the Division 2 doubles field at the 2021 WIAA State Individual Girls Tennis Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium this past weekend.


Schroeder and Stolt, seeded fifth, won its first match over Ashley Ulset and Sylvia Fox of Edgerton 6-2, 6-1; and won a pair of matches Friday to reach the semifinals. They beat Brooke Albrightson and Allison Albrightson of Baldwin-Woodville 6-1, 6-4, and J.J. Krohn and Lexi Kass of Brookfield Academy 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.


In the semifinals, the Pacelli duo lost to No. 1 seed and eventual state champion Rebecca Daskal and Isabel Werner of University School of Milwaukee, 6-2, 6-1; and fell in the third-place match to Jeslyn Singson and Courtney Strum of Waukesha Catholic Memorial, 6-3, 6-1 to take fourth and finish the season with a 22-3 record.


Stevens Point Area Senior High’s two state qualifiers both lost early in the tournament.


Jessica Klemen finished 16-11 this season after losing an opening-round singles match to Lainy Ristau of Kenosha Indian Trail, 6-2, 6-0.


SPASH’s doubles team of Abby Erwin and Tatum Thielman won their first match over Mikayla Wheeler and Shannon Gibbons of Stoughton 6-1, 6-1, before losing in the second round to Christian Pan and Emily Pan of Muskego 6-0, 6-0. Pan and Pan went on to finish second in the tournament.
