AMHERST – Oconto Falls won six matches by pin and two more by forfeit to defeat Amherst 51-30 in the semifinals of the WIAA Division 2 team wrestling sectional on Tuesday at Amherst High School.

Luxemburg-Casco defeated Freedom 34-28 in the other semifinal and went on to dominate Oconto Falls 60-10 in the championship dual to earn a spot in the 2022 WIAA State Team Wrestling Tournament at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse in Madison on March 5.

Amherst won four matches by pin and another by forfeit to account for its 30 points. Ephriam Anglemeyer (160 pounds), Jack Bohm (170), Jake Hoffman (220) and Shane Suthheimer (152) earn pins for the Falcons.

Amherst will compete at the WIAA Division 2 individual sectional at Oconto Falls on Saturday. The top three finishers in each weight class will qualify for the 2022 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison on Feb. 24-26.
