NORTHLAND PINES EDGES PACELLI BOYS HOCKEY

EAGLE RIVER – Northland Pines scored two goals in the third period and held off a late rally to defeat Stevens Point Pacelli 4-3 in a boys hockey game Thursday.
The two teams exchanged goals in the first and second periods as Sawyer Olds and Jacob Hasler scored for Pacelli, and the game was tied 2-2 heading into the third period.
Matthew Szafranski and Sam Warner scored in a span of 22 seconds to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead early in the third period.
Hasler scored again with 8:05 to go, but the Cardinals to couldn’t find a way to net the equalizer.
Carter Herheim had 20 saves in goal for Pacelli (8-7).
Pacelli will play at the WSFLG Blizzard on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Siren Ice Arena.
