WAUSAU – Wausau Newman Catholic made seven 3-pointers and 13 of 14 free throw attempts in a 77-55 win over Athens in a Marawood Conference boys basketball crossover game Thursday at Newman Catholic High School.
Mason Prey scored 21 points and Isaac Seidel added 20 for the Cardinals, who improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Marawood South.
Cooper Diedrich has 24 points and Aiden Janke had 19 for Athens (2-1, 1-1 Marawood North).
Athens hosts Colby in a nonconference game on Monday. Newman Catholic will be off until next Thursday, Dec. 9, when it plays a Marawood crossover game at Abbotsford.
