MOSINEE VOLLEYBALL WINS THREE MATCHES AT GNC MEET, CLINCHES CONFERENCE TITLE

MOSINEE – The Mosinee volleyball team clinched its fifth-straight Great Northern Conference championship after going a perfect 3-0 at the GNC meet on Saturday at Mosinee High School.
Mosinee defeated Antigo 25-16, 25-16, 26-24; Tomahawk 25-21, 25-13, 25-12; and Rhinelander 25-9, 25-16, 25-18, to improve to 10-0 this season in the GNC and open up a 2½ match lead of Tomahawk and Medford, which are both 8-3.
Abbi Martin had 23 kills, Jenna Placek added 21 kills and eight blocks, Alexis Jonas had 87 assists, nine service aces and 17 digs, and Jessica Maurer had 14 kills and 19 digs to lead Mosinee in its three matches.
Claire Selenske added 15 kills, 15 digs and six aces, Dannica Shupe had 12 kills and seven blocks, Hailey Shnowske had 18 digs, Jessica Brown 17 digs, and Tristan Wicklund 12 digs in the three wins for the Indians.
In other matches Saturday, Medford defeated Rhinelander 25-15, 25-21, 25-11, and Northland Pines 25-14, 26-24, 25-19; Tomahawk defeated Northland Pines 25-23, 25-17, 25-16, and Lakeland 25-19, 25-14, 22-25, 25-12; Northland Pines beat Rhinelander 25-14, 25-9, 26-24; and Antigo beat Lakeland 25-16, 27-25, 25-27, 27-25.
