MOSINEE SOFTBALL HOLDS OFF ANTIGO

MOSINEE – Mosinee scored eight runs in the first two innings and held on for an 8-5 win over Antigo in a Great Northern Conference softball game Monday at Mosinee High School.
The Indians plated five runs in the first and added three more in the second to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
Antigo pitcher Sam Swartz settled in from there, shutting out the Indians over the final four innings, but the damage was done.
Antigo scored twice in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to make it close, but Mosinee pitcher Addy Strejc finished off the victory with two shutout innings. She earned the win with four strikeouts.
Amber Gonzalez and Maria Valls Raya each had two hits, and Maggie Woller drove in three runs for Mosinee (3-0, 2-0 GNC).
Laura Burkhart was 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for Antigo (0-4, 0-1 GNC).
Mosinee hosts Northland Pines on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
