MOSINEE FOOTBALL WINS NONCONFERENCE GAME OVER RACINE ST. CATHERINE'S

KAUKAUNA – Mosinee built a three-score lead early in the third quarter and went on to a 30-12 win over Racine St. Catherine’s in a nonconference football game played Friday at Kaukauna High School.

Trevor Garski scored on a 6-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and Eli Miland kicked a field goal as time expired in the second quarter, giving Mosinee a 10-0 lead at halftime.

Garski threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Keagan Jirschele 1:18 into the third quarter, and after a St. Catherine’s touchdown, the two connected again on a 4-yard score as Mosinee went on top 24-6.

Evan Utphall returned an interception 49 yards for a score in the final minute of the game for the Indians, and St. Catherine’s scored on the final play of the game to provide the final score.

Garski finished 11-for-24 for 149 yards passing and also ran for 43 yards for Mosinee. Keagan Jirschele caught six passes for 87 yards, and Barnes Bunkelman had 66 yards rushing as well for the Indians.

Mosinee (1-1) will open Great Northern Conference play at Hayward (0-2) on Friday.
