MOSINEE EDGES COLBY/ABBOTSFORD IN GREAT NORTHERN CONFERENCE GIRLS SWIM MEET

COLBY – Morgan Hoernke and Haylie Kluz each won two events and were part of a winning relay team to help the Mosinee girls swim team to a narrow 79-75 win over Colby/Abbotsford in a Great Northern Conference dual meet Thursday at Colby High School.


Hoernke won the 200 freestyle (2:23.76) and the 100 butterfly (1:18.96), Kluz took first in the 500 freestyle (6:11.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:22.32), and the two teamed with Jacqueline Kramer and Mya Mueller to win the 200 medley relay (2:24.54) to lead the way for Mosinee in its first conference victory of the season.


Mosinee is now 1-3 and Colby/Abbotsford drops to 0-4 in Great Northern Conference dual meets this fall.


Colby/Abbotsford won the other six events.


Chloe Cihlar was first in the 100 freestyle (1:01.38) and the 100 backstroke (1:13.02), Hailey Meyer took first in the 50 freesetyle (31.51), Olivia Krause won the 200 individual medley (2:57.30), and C/A won two relays.


Cihlar, Zanza Haemer, Lily Graun, and Krause won the 200 freestyle relay in 2:02.10 and the 400 freestyle relay in 4:42.08 for Colby/Abbotsford.


Mosinee will be at Antigo and Colby/Abbotsford will host Lakeland next Thursday, Sept. 30, in GNC meets.
