ANTIGO – The Mosinee boys soccer team won its fourth-straight game, defeating Antigo 4-0 on Thursday night.
The Indians are now 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the Great Northern Conference.
“With Cole Holtz in the midfield, Mosinee has been able to control their games,” Mosinee coach Joseph Carlson said. “His possession skills, astute defense, and deft passing have set up Mosinee for success. Mosinee has had an outstanding season, with only one loss when Cole is on the pitch. Helping him is defensive midfielder Garret Donohue, with Thomas Miller and Ondrej Napravnik running the outside. That combination led to a clear advantage in possession throughout the evening.”
Toren Holtz scored off a back pass from Napravnik in the 12th minute to get the scoring started for Mosinee.
Jaeger Dhein and Toren Holtz added goals later in the half to push the lead to 3-0.
In the second half, Mosinee took the ball right back to the Antigo end, and a beautiful combination play with Cole Holtz and Toren Holtz led to Toren getting his hat trick, and making the score 4-0 in the 50th minute.
Mosinee is now 5-2 in the Great Northern Conference and remains in second place. Mosinee has a significant week next week with Medford coming for a game on Tuesday and a trip to Rhinelander on the docket for Thursday.
