MOSINEE – The Mosinee boys hockey team busted open a tie game with a five-goal second period and rolled to a 10-3 win over Waupaca in a nonconference game Thursday at the Mosinee Rec Center.
Caden Schmirler and Ethan Denesha scored goals in the first period to give Mosinee a quick lead, only to see Waupaca storm back and tie it up by the end of the period.
The Indians responded with eight unanswered goals, scoring five times in the second period and three more times in the third before Waupaca netted a late goal to finish the scoring.
Schmirler, A.J. Buenning, and Gavin Obremski each scored two goals for Mosinee, which improves to 9-4.
Mosinee plays a nonconference game vs. De Pere at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
