MOSINEE BOYS BASKETBALL PULLS AWAY IN SECOND HALF TO DEFEAT WITTENBERG-BIRNAMWOOD

MOSINEE – Davin Stoffel scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half, helping the Mosinee boys basketball team to a 57-45 victory over Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a game at the Mosinee Holiday Tournament on Friday night at Mosinee High School.
Stoffel’s big first half, along with seven points from Drake Grod, pushed Mosinee to a 30-25 lead at halftime.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood quickly took the lead early in the second half before The Indians, playing their season opener, were able pull away as eight different players scored, led by Kyle Miller’s seven points. Miller finished with 11 in the win.
Ben Wesolowski scored 16 points and Simon Schairer added 10 for Wittenberg-Birnamwood (1-1).
Mosinee will play Wausau East at 5 p.m. Saturday, with Lakeland and Wittenberg-Birnamwood playing at 3 p.m. to complete the tournament. Lakeland defeated Wausau East 77-67 on Friday.
