MARSHFIELD, STEVENS POINT, WISCONSIN RAPIDS ATHLETES COMPETE AT WIAA DIVISION 1 STATE TRACK MEET

LA CROSSE – Athletes from Marshfield, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids competed at the 2021 WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.


Marshfield’s Wyatt LeMoine finished seventh in the boys triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 4½ inches, coming up 9½ inches short of a sixth-place finish and a state medal. LeMoine also competed in the long jump, finishing 14th with a jump of 20-3.


Aubri Brown took 10th place in the girls discus with a throw of 109-8, and Sophie Nikolay tied for 18th place in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet, for the Marshfield girls.


The Stevens Point boys earned four medals with top-six finishes.


Jake Bourget took third in the 3,200 meters in 9:20.74, and the 3,200 relay team of Zach Scharbarth, James Jacobs, Bode Erickson and Bourget also finished third in 7:57.61.


Karter Rashke took fourth in the pole vault (54-1/4) and the 800 relay team of Quinton Martin, Nate Streveler, Carter Koch and Matthew Eiden finished sixth in 1:32.22 to also earn medals for SPASH.


Brittany Beadles, the lone Stevens Point girls competing, took eighth in the 400 in 1:00.70.


Other Stevens Point boys that competed were: Martin (18th in 200 prelims, 22.99), Jacobs (15th in the 1,600, 4:30.94), Colton Engle (26th in 300 hurdles, 44.75), Brady Dillingham (tied for 16th in pole vault, 12-6), and the 1,600 relay team of Koch, Streveler, Jacobs and Eiden (ninth, 3:29.00).


Wisconsin Rapids had two boys compete. Brock Sullivan tied Dillingham for 16th in the pole vault (12-6) and Peter Rucker finished 16th in the triple jump (41-1).
