MARSHFIELD LEGION RIPS MERRILL FOR FOURTH WIN IN A ROW

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Post 54 scored six times in the first two innings and cruised to a 14-4 win over Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game Thursday night at Jack Hackman Field.

The win is the fourth in a row for the Blue Devils, who are now 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the WVLL.

Marshfield had 17 hits, including four doubles, in the win.

Riley Bauman had three hits and four RBI, Brady Schmidt also had three hits and drove in one, and Logan Homolka knocked in three as well for the Blue Devils.

Carsten Jirschele earned the win for Marshfield, allowing three runs with four strikeouts in three innings. Chase Robinson allowed just one unearned run over the final three innings as Marshfield won via the 10-run rule.

Marshfield will compete at the Sheboygan Tournament from Friday through Sunday. The Blue Devils will play Viroqua at 5:30 p.m. and Sheboygan at 8 p.m. on Friday, and Plover at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. All three games will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
