MARSHFIELD JUNIOR LEGION TOPS WISCONSIN RAPIDS IN REGIONAL OPENER

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team won its 17U regional opener 9-3 over Wisconsin Rapids on Friday afternoon at Bukolt Park.

Marshfield trailed 3-1 before erupting for six runs in the fourth inning to take control.

Leadoff hitter Bennett Lang went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Brady Schmidt was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Brock Bennington and Sloan Welch each had two hits for Marshfield (10-12).

Schmidt picked up the win, going six innings with two strikeouts.

Marshfield plays Plover at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in a winners' bracket game.
