MARATHON BASEBALL ROLLS PAST ASSUMPTION

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marathon took advantage of 14 walks and four errors to down Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 12-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game at Witter Field on Thursday.
Marathon (6-3, 4-2 Marawood South) scored four times in the third inning and put the game away with a six-run sixth, ending the game via the 10-run rule.
Grant Warren had two hits and five RBI to lead the Marathon offense, which only had four hits in the game.
Aaron Livernash knocked in Assumption’s lone run. The Royals are now 1-7 and 0-7 in the Marawood South.
Both teams will host nonconference games Friday. Marathon will play Abbotsford/Colby and Assumption will be at home against Athens.
