NEKOOSA – Athens overcame a poor shooting night to edge Nekoosa 62-58 in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday at Nekoosa High School.
Aiden Janke was 12-for-21 from the field and scored 30 points to lead the way for the Bluejays, who improve to 8-2. The rest of the team was just 12 of 41 shooting as Athens shot 38 percent from the field and missed 10 of 19 free throw attempts.
Cooper Diedrich added 20 points and 11 rebounds in the win for Athens, which has won five games in a row.
Athens plays a Marawood Conference North Division game at Abbotsford on Thursday.
