IOLA - The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds softball team moved its season record to 2-0 after a convincing 17-3 win over the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers on Monday. The Chargers loss puts its record at 1-1.

Jaelyn Sivertson led the way for the T-Birds with three RBI on two hits and one run scored from the leadoff spot. Makayla Much, Mayah Heschke, and Maddie Much each had two RBI to help Iola-Scandinavia run up the big score.

A seven-run bottom of the first inning was all the starting pitcher Julia Munoz needed to pick up the win for the T-Birds. Munoz pitched a complete five-inning game giving up four hits and two earned runs.

Jami Wendler was the losing pitcher for the Chargers giving up 13 earned runs on 11 hits and walked 10.

Next up for Iola-Scandinavia is a road game at Bonduel on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wittenberg-Birnamwood will play Thursday at home against Menomonie Indian.
