GREENWOOD BOYS BASKETBALL DOWNS ABBOTSFORD FOR FIRST WIN

GREENWOOD – Mason Learman and Christian Thomas each scored 10 points in the second half to help push the Greenwood boys basketball team to its first win of the season, a 50-41 defeat of Abbotsford in a nonconference matchup Monday night at Greenwood High School.


Learman and Thomas both finished with 15 points for the Indians, who are now 1-2 this season.


Greenwood held on to a 22-20 lead at halftime before pulling away a bit and held on for the win despite making just 8 of 19 free throws in the second half.


Brandon Diedrich had 12 points, and Adam Diedrich scored 11 points and hauled down 10 rebounds for Abbotsford, which falls to 0-3.


Abbotsford hosts Pittsville for another nonconference game on Tuesday. Greenwood returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division play on Thursday at home against Neillsville.
