COLBY – Three big plays in the second half by Eau Claire Regis turned a tight game into a rout of Colby in Cloverbelt Conference football action Friday night at Colby High School.


The two teams each came into the game unbeaten in the Cloverbelt this season and the first half was tight, but the Ramblers scored three long touchdowns in the third quarter and pulled away to win 40-9.


Regis moves to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Cloverbelt, while Colby falls to 5-2 and 5-1 in conference play.


Harley Schmelzer hit a 24-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Colby the early lead.


Regis pulled ahead on touchdown runs by Gus Theisen and Hayden Reinders, and Gavino Lopez had a 2-yard touchdown run for the Hornets, making it 14-9 at halftime.
