SPENCER – Gracie Wilczek went 3-for-3 with a home run and six RBI as the Columbus Catholic softball team won its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division game of the season with a 17-1 rout of Spencer on Thursday at Spencer High School.
The Dons scored six times in the first inning, three more in the second and finished off the game with an eight-run third, ending the game due to the 15-run rule after three innings.
Cierra Dieringer also hit a home run and drove in five for the Dons (2-5, 1-1 Cloverbelt East).
Hailey Zimmermann picked up the win with nine strikeouts in three innings, and she scored three runs for Columbus Catholic.
Columbus Catholic will host Gilman and Spencer will be at home against Colby/Abbotsford in Cloverbelt East action Friday. The Columbus-Gilman game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com starting at 5 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
