COLBY WELCOMES NEW GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH

Sports Desk – The Colby Hornets girls basketball program has a new coach at the helm, Terry Schmitt.

Schmitt will be taking over the Hornets basketball team after longtime coach Randy Rau resigned in March after 15 years as head coach. Just two years ago Coach Rau led the Colby Hornets and made a run into the State semi-finals they are looking to get back to where they were with the change at head coach.

Terry Schmitt is a 1989 graduate from Colby. He owns a beef farm and works for the Town of Hull as well as working as a full-time father and husband. Terry has been married for 20 years and is the father to six kids.

As many coaches have goals to set and skills to work on, Schmitt is no different.

“I believe in being great at the basics; dribbling, footwork, correct positioning on defense. Goals are that every lady on the team believes they can do whatever they want on and off the court and gave everything they have to the team,” Terry Schmitt.

Schmitt will have a good core of girls back from the 2019-2020 season as Hornets graduated three and will return eight including six seniors.
