COLBY GIRLS BASKETBALL SURGES PAST OWEN-WITHEE

COLBY – The Colby girls basketball team remain undefeated in the Cloverbelt Conference East Diviison after pulling past Owen-Withee 73-63 on Thursday night at Colby High School.
Colby is now 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Owen-Withee falls to 1-3 and 1-2 in conference play.
Owen-Withee led 37-34 at halftime behind 17 points from Katie Erickson, before the Hornets pulled away by outscoring the Blackhawks by 13 points in the second half.
Emma Peavey scored 15 of her team-high 21 points in the second half for Colby with three made baskets and by making 9 of 11 free throws.
Lexi Underwood added 16 points, Hailey Voelker had 14 points, and Lexi Krebsbach scored 13 points for Colby.
Erickson finished with 20 points and Brianna Simington had 17 points before both fouled out for Owen-Withee.
Both teams return to action Tuesday with home Cloverbelt East games. Colby will host Gilman and Owen-Withee will play Spencer.
