Zaleski Sports

STRATFORD – Emma Peavey scored all 15 of her points in the second half, making 11 of 12 free throws and adding a 3-pointer, to help Colby stave off Stratford 46-39 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.

Colby led 16-14 after a stagnant first half before making 17 of 23 free throws in the second half to hold on for the win.

Colby is now 5-2 and Stratford falls to 2-4 this season.

Stratford shot just 33 percent (16-for-48) and made only one 3-pointer in 12 tries.

Emily Hughes had 11 points, Tanaya Schillinger scored nine, and Breanna Ackley had seven points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Stratford plays at Athens in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night, and Colby will host Neillsville in a big Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup on Thursday.
