COLBY FOOTBALL ROUGHS UP ABBOTSFORD TO CLAIM SHARE OF MARAWOOD CONFERENCE TITLE

ABBOTSFORD – Colby quarterback Brent Jeske ran for 187 yards and two touchdowns, and threw for another as the Hornets rolled past Abbotsford 44-6 in a Marawood Conference football game Friday night at Abbotsford High School.
The win gives Colby a share of the Marawood Conference championship as it finishes 3-0 along with Edgar in the abbreviated 2020 season.
Jeske had a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Caden Healy added a 26-yard score to help Colby (5-0 overall) build a quick 14-0 lead.
After Cade Faber scored for Abbotsford, the Hornets ripped off 30 unanswered points to the end the game.
Joe Hawthrone had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, Jeske hit Mason Schmutzler for an 8-yard touchdown pass and scored from 17 yards out on a run in the third, and Ross Elmhorst finished the scoring with a 1-yard TD in the final period.
Colby racked up 360 yards rushing as Mason Voss added 75 and Hawthorne had 49.
Colby will play a WIAA Division 4 postseason game against former Cloverbelt Conference rival Stanley-Boyd (5-2) at home on Friday. Abbotsford finishes its season with a 2-3 mark overall and 1-3 in the Marawood.
