COLBY FOOTBALL BLASTS SOUTHERN DOOR FOR THIRD-STRAIGHT WIN

BRUSSELS – The Colby football team racked up 411 yards of offense and had two defensive touchdowns as well in a dominating, all-around rout of Southern Door on Friday night, winning 52-7 in a nonconference game at Southern Door High School.

Colby scored six first-half touchdowns to take a commanding 40-0 lead and added two more scores in the third quarter to polish off its third-straight victory to start the season.

Mason Voss had touchdown runs of 5 and 27 yards, and returned an interception 33 yards for a score, and quarterback Brent Jeske had TD runs of 1 and 70 yards, and threw a 44-yard scoring pass to Caden Healy to pace the Hornets.

Mateo Lopez added a 21-yard touchdown run, and Braxton Meyer recovered a fumble and scored as the Hornets outgained Southern Door (2-1) 411-139.

Colby will open its Marawood Conference schedule at home against Edgar (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 10, in a battle of state-ranked opponents. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com. Heading into this week, Colby was ranked second in Division 6 and Edgar was No. 1 in Division 7.
