COLBY DOWNS GREENWOOD IN CLOVERBELT EAST GIRLS BASKETBALL OPENER

COLBY – Brett Schmitt scored 13 points to lead three Colby players that scored in double figures as the Hornets pulled away in the second half to defeat Greenwood 64-51 in the season and Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener for both teams on Friday night at Colby High School.
Colby led 29-26 at halftime before outscoring Greenwood by 10 in the second half to earn the victory.
Hayden Willner added 12 points and Trisha Vanderhoof added 11 for the Hornets.
Mesa Rasmussen and Kia Abel each scored 12 points to lead Greenwood.
Colby will play road games at Abbotsford on Monday and Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday. Greenwood’s next game is Tuesday at Augusta.
