CEDAR GROVE-BELGIUM SHUTS OUT ASSUMPTION IN D-4 SEMIFINAL AT WIAA STATE GIRLS SOCCER TOURNAMENT

MILWAUKEE – Cedar Grove-Belgium scored three first-half goals and held Assumption to just five shots on goal, ending the Royals’ season with a 4-0 win in a Division 4 semifinal at the 2021 WIAA State Girls Soccer Tournament on Friday at Uihlein Soccer Park.
Assumption, making its third trip to state after going in 2011 and 2014, was held to three shots on goal, none of which made it past Cedar Grove-Belgium goalkeeper Brooke Braga.
The Rockets held a 19-5 shot advantage and handed Assumption its only loss of the season as it finishes 13-1-2.
Cedar Grove-Belgium lost the D-4 championship game later Friday afternoon to Brookfield Academy in a shootout. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, with Brookfield Academy winning the shootout 4-3.
Alexis Bahr scored in the 11th and 37th minute, and Payton Navis added a goal with 1:48 to go before halftime to put the Rockets up 3-0.
Bahr assisted on a goal by Gracie Gauger with 7:09 left in the game to cap the scoring.
Kate Eithun had seven saves in goal for Assumption.
