AUBURNDALE FOOTBALL SHUTS OUT ABBOTSFORD

AUBURNDALE – Abbotsford racked up 290 rushing yards but Auburndale was able to keep the Falcons out of the end zone and pulled off a 21-0 Marawood Conference football win Friday night at Auburndale High School.


Auburndale quarterback Trayton Weber had a 34-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 74-yard scamper for a score in the third to lead the way for the Eagles (4-1, 1-0 Marawood Conference).


Terrance Roberson added a 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter for Auburndale, which had 276 rushing yards of its own, 153 from Weber.


Ty Faltiesek had 144 yards and quarterback JV Castillo added 113 for Abbotsford (4-2, 1-2 Marawood Conference).


Auburndale’s win, combined with the three Marawood Conference forfeits it is receiving from Athens, Owen-Withee and Thorp dropping out of the league just before the start of the season, the Eagles are now qualified for the WIAA playoffs.


Auburndale will play a Marawood game at Edgar on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.


Abbotsford will play a nonconference game at home against Oconto on Friday, Oct. 1.
