WITTENBERG – The Auburndale baseball team had a combined 21 runs on 21 hits in a sweep of two games at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Triangular on Saturday at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.
The Eagles defeated Witt-Birn 13-3 and blanked Peshtigo 8-0 to improve to 9-6 this season.
Aden Cherney earned the win with a complete game against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, striking out nine with just one walk. He also added two hits and scored twice.
Sloan Welch went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, and Kaden Anderson and Connor Brandl each had three RBI in the win for the Eagles.
Blake Raab and Caden Weinfurter combined on a three-hit shutout against Peshitgo. Raab went six innings and struck out five without a walk, and was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Weinfurter added three RBI for Auburndale.
Auburndale hosts Marathon in Marawood Conference South Division play Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
