AUBURNDALE BASEBALL GRABS WALK-OFF WIN OVER ASSUMPTION

AUBURNDALE – Caden Weinfurter knocked in Nathan Richardson with a sacrifice fly to deliver a walk-off win for the Auburndale baseball team as it rallied for a 10-9 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday at Auburndale High School.


Auburndale led 8-3 after three innings before the Royals came back to take a 9-8 lead with a five-run top of the seventh.


Nick Leberg had an RBI double, N Hartman knocked in two runs with a double, Aaron Livernash scored on a wild pitch and Hartman came into score on a groundout to put Assumption on top.


Auburndale came back in the bottom of the inning. Mason Rachu and Raab singled before Sloan Welch was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After a pop out, the pinch-runner Richardson scored on an error and Weinfurter delivered the sac fly to end it.


Jack Klatt and Tarren Hartman each went 3-for-4, and Leberg added a home run and four RBI for Assumption (1-5, 0-5 Marawood South).


Aden Cherney and Ian Brown both had two hits, with Cherney knocking in three runs for Auburndale (6-4, 4-2 Marawood South).


Assumption plays at Marathon on Monday. Auburndale is back in action at home against Stratford on Tuesday.
