STEVENS POINT, WI - The Athens Blue Jays softball team begin the 2022 season with a exclamation point in taking care of the Spencer Rockets 26-2.

The Blue Jays bombarded the Rockets with 25 runs in the third inning that featured RBI doubles from Sophia Coker, Jazelle Hartwig, and Jenna Handshcke. The third inning also saw 30 Athens hitters come to the plate, with 12 hits, 11 walks, and five Spencer errors.

Heavyn Kind had the lone RBI for Spencer with a base hit in the second inning that scored Madison Knecht.

Sierra Hart picked up the win for Athens with 10 strikeouts in three innings of work.

Next up for Athens is a Marawood crossover game at home against Stratford on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 4:45pm. The game will be featured live at

Spencer will play at Abby/Colby on Friday at 5pm.
