ATHENS GIRLS BASKETBALL KNOCKS OFF AUBURNDALE

ATHENS – Addison Lavicka scored 34 points to lead the Athens girls basketball team to a 72-62 win over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Athens High School.


Lavicka was 9-for-15 from the field, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range, and was 12 of 17 at the free throw line to finish with her 34 points to lead the way for the Bluejays (17-4, 10-4 Marawood Conference North Division).


Sophia Coker added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Athens.


Auburndale statistics were not reported. The Eagles fall to 16-6 overall and 11-4 in the Marawood South, and are officially eliminated from conference title contention.


Auburndale finishes its regular season with a Marawood South game at Edgar on Thursday.


Athens hosts Pittsville for a nonconference game Monday, has a Marawood crossover game at home against Stratford on Tuesday, and will finish its regular season with a Marawood North home game against Chequamegon on Thursday.
