ATHENS GIRLS BASKETBALL EDGES MARATHON

ATHENS – The Athens girls basketball team overcame a four-point halftime deficit to edge Marathon 38-37 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Monday at Athens High School.
Marathon led 18-14 at halftime before the Bluejays outscored the raiders 24-19 in the second half to eke out the victory.
Jazelle Hartwing had 17 points and Addison Lavicka added 10 for Athens, which improves to 14-2 overall and 8-2 in the Marawood North.
Marathon falls to 8-7 and 6-4 in the Marawood South.
Marathon plays at Stratford in a Marawood South game and Athens will be at Rib Lake in a Marawood North contest on Thursday.
