ATHENS BOYS BASKETBALL USES LONG BALL TO WIN AT ASSUMPTION

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Athens nailed 11 3-pointers, six from Kody Lepak, and downed Assumption 78-52 in a Marawood Conference boys basketball crossover game Friday night at Assumption High School.


Lepak made five 3-pointers and scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half as Athens built a 42-22 lead by halftime.


Cooper Diedrich scored a game-high 27 points for the Bluejays, who are now 14-4 overall and 8-4 in the Marawood North.


Bryson Galbreath had 15 points, Ryan Shaw scored 14, and Reed Duellman added 11 for Assumption, which falls to 6-11 and 3-9 in the Marawood South.


Assumption hosts Amherst for a nonconference game Monday. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.


Athens returns to action Monday as well, hosting Cadott in a nonconference game.
